Local Outings
2008
SUNDAY 17th AUGUST- RSPB SALTHOLME.
Join Emma Birnie, the new RSPB Saltholme warden, for a guided walk around this exciting project. The Visitor
Centre should be virtually complete and you could be one of the first to look around.
Meet at 11.00 am at the RSPB Saltholme Car Park.
SUNDAY 21st SEPTEMBER – RINGING AT HARTLEPOOL HEADLAND
Join Chris Brown and Mike Gee for a ringing session at Hartlepool Headland. Hopefully
a good selection of autumn migrants should be trapped. Anything could be found in
the nets at this time of year. A Red-flanked Bluetail, perhaps, or even a Blackbird!
Meet by the Bowling Green from 8.30am. Telephone Chris on 01429 233474 for more
information.
MONDAY 13th OCTOBER – SOUTH GARE
Join John Sharp to look for migrants at South Gare. Meet by the lifeboat station
at 10.00am. Hopefully, winter thrushes should be present and expect the unexpected
at this time of year. Ring John on 01287 633976 for further details.
SUNDAY 9TH NOVEMBER – GREATHAM CREEK AND GREENABELLA
MARSH
Join Chris Sharp for a walk along Greatham Creek and on to Greenabella Marsh. Good
numbers of wintering wildfowl and waders should be seen, and Twite and Short–eared
Owl are distinct possibilities. Meet at the Teesmouth National Nature Reserve car
park just south of Greatham Creek at 10.30am. For further details ring Chris on
01429 865163
SATURDAY 13th DECEMBER – SEAL SANDS
Join Julie Mason for a trip out to the Power Station hide overlooking Seal Sands.
Close views of wintering waders and sea duck should be had, along with divers, grebes
and Red-breasted Mergansers. Meet at the Teesmouth Field Centre at 9.30am. For further
information ring Julie on
01642 614583.
