This morning at Seaton Snook / Common to the left of the sand works, heard calling then showed on fence post before heading off towards the channel.

Hi,

Some may find a picture of a Bluethroat taken on Holy Island a couple of years ago amazingly similair. The post even has the same knots, marks, grain and green growth in exactly the same places. The photo is on the following site:-

at the following location:-

Your spot on there Jamie, same post, same bird but probably next/previous in the sequence with the other shot.

Lot of people will have wasted time and money looking for this bird.

Anyone met this person?

Hi Jamie

You are far too polite, it isn't amazingly similar, it IS the same bird, I also found the correctly labelled image on the internet. I note that 'Buzzard' claimed the Ring-necked Duck on Dormans Pool a day earlier than anybody else and posted some images reputedly taken on New Years Eve. The pictures he has posted look remarkably like the previous year's bird at Cowpen Bewley as they give the impression of being taken on a bright spring day, a fact backed up by the date on the photograph properties tag (March 2010) . I have had a quick look at his images and the bill pattern looks wrong for the 2011 bird and if anybody wants to invest any more time in this Buzzard's 'mis-postings' then I suspect his images of the Ring-necked Duck will also turn out to be questionable.

The Bird Club website sightings and forum pages are an important source of information not only for observers but also for the record committee and it is imperative that anything posted is as honest and accurate as possible as these records may be used in the publication of the annual bird report. Is it possible to identify Buzzard, advise the records committee who he is so they can discount his records and also block him from using the website?

Furthermore it may be wise to insist that everybody posting uses their real full names. I appreciate that we are now in the world of electronic communication where the likes of Twitter and Facebook encourage anonymity through nicknames but this is a sensible forum where the use of such names may prevent us from tracking records back to specific observers, something which I am sure will cause valuable records to be lost.

Cheers

To preserve the ability to hide details from SPAMMERS, why not register with full details, but still use Nick Names on the forum. Then Admin can see who is, erm, not playing fare.

Only been bird watching a year, and meet and know a few tags here. Its a pleasure to be sat beside certain memebers in the hides etc around here. The info you can pick up, and share is fantastic.

I have no problem with people posting under their username as long as they use their correct email address etc as we can always use that to get more details from the user directly as has been done a few times before

P.I.Nochio here from MonkeyPool,  You'll find it hard to stop people using alias, I've had my nickname for over 20 years now and I use it on most forums I visit, The main reason I started to us it was my name was already taken so unless I became a number at the end of the name I couldn't use it and I'm sure it is the same with most of you.

Anyone nowadays can make an E-mail so they can register under a false name, Banning IP address's stops most Alias as most don't know or can't fake their IP address, Banning MAC address's is the best way todate I'm aware of, but I don't know if it can be done on these forums.

I'm sure in the case of Mr Buzzard  the members can work out who it is, as he seems to know many of you in the field.

Anyway that's it from me

Kind Regards

Damm I gave my real ID away ::)
Why worry it may never happen?
If it has already happened why worry?
Because it's too late to do anything about it,
So Why Worry?

As ratbiter (I dread to think how he got this name  :o ) mentions I have a lot of facilities to ban people and track the actual location that they are posting from
