Edit - 23/10/2018 - additional info just received.

Apparently the colour stayed in the UK. The story of this colour-ringed Egyptian Goose has continued and the bird is right now at Swanley Park in Swanley, Kent, c 24 km SE of central London. The bird is present at this site since 29 April 2018 and it has turned out that is it a male.

A metal ringed bird rather than darvic but worth mentioning as it may be the first France ringed Barnacle Goose to turn up in the UK.

Two have remained on the reserve the last few weeks. One at Paddy's Pool on the wet grassland and this one which was at Dormans Pool, then moved to the field beside Sabic opposite the reserve entrance. Today it was on the field beside the path to Saltholme Hide. As I walked down the path it came closer to the fence to a muddy pool where it had a drink. The water washed the mud from it's feet revealing a metal ring.

Photos showed the ring number as OIS MUSEUM PARIS CF- 29449

The details have been reported via EURING. I'll update the entry if/when I receive a reply.

*** Confirmed today. Bird was ringed Brittany, France winter 2016-17. Last reported 28/01/2017 Hillion, St. Brieux Bay,  Brittany when photos were taken following it's release after ringing. It's the only Barnacle Goose ringed in France in recent years!

Marsh harrier XI was seen hunting around the tanks at Saltholme on several occasions today.  I personally saw it from the Phil Stead hide (when the attached photo was taken), from the WWP, and again when i was near the Jubilee Mound.

Colour-ringed little egret at the Phil Stead Hide today, as attached (taken in rahter murky light).  Is this one of the locally-ringed birds?

No it's not one of the local birds.

It's been around since March. Mostly at the Phil Stead Hide and Wildlife Watchpoint though also occasionally at Saltholme Hide and Dormans Pool.
