I have been hearing in the SW of the county overhead Redpoll calls which are not quite like those of our local Lesser Redpoll's calls which I think I am familiar with, and I do know Mealies have been reported in the area. Does anyone know of a web site where I can listen to the calls of both species, please? I have found some recordings but the picture, which goes with the call, is often not the species it is claimed to be , so I am not convinced of the accuracy of the recording v species illustrated. So I am looking for something a bit more authoratative if I am to sit down and learn them.
On something slightly different now - does anyone know of a web site with the call of female European Quail? I read that  males of American quail species can be called into the open with female calls and I wonder if it is also true of our birds.
Thanks in anticipation.

Thank you Toby for your speedy reply - a fascinating site indeed. I just need to get a smart child to fix the sound on my computor which has fallen over - again.
The site is big in quail calls it would appear and I will have to see if female call is amongst them.
The choice of Redpoll species is our Lesser and Arctic ( hornemanns race ) so I shall try that.
