Hi,

we heard this afternoon that someone had taken a picture of an owl into Saltholme and the wardens had id'ed it an an Eagle Owl. We were told it was definitely not stuffed as it had moved its head. Someone also said it had been seen to fly in off the sea! We therefore got directions and went for a look. After a while me managed to locate it but unfortunately it was made of plastic! We also located another two plastic Eagle Owls on other boats one of which I photographed been sailed into the Marina. The Large photo shows the original owl and the location of it (behind the floating restaurant) where it is ringed in red. I also ringed in red the second owl.

In addition there was also a flock of plastic crows on one boats deck!

These have been on the go for a good few years now. 2-3 years ago we saw them on the boats in the marina.

when i lived on the marina seeing the plastic owls always used to chuckle me apparently the idea is to stop pesky seagulls landing and making a mess on your boat if you cant live with seagulls you should neither have a boat or live on a marina !
