Hi haven't had a chance to go out lately are the avocets still about .

I've not seen any for a couple weeks now I'm afraid.

Hopefully they'll be back next year.

Who is responsible for maintaining the nesting site? The wet weather has encouraged a lot of vegetation growth which ought to weeded of sprayed off ere the 2009 nesting season.

Sabic are/were the land owners - but I'm not sure the position at the moment as last I heard Sabic were shutting down the North Tees site.

I believe English Nature/Natural England with some input from the RSPB did the vegetation clearance and shingle/cockle shell coverage the last few years. Usually it's done April/May - sometimes after the Terns/LRP have already begun arriving.
