Can anyone give me a good detailed map reference for Nightjar? They say Guisborough Forest is as likely a place as any? Coming from 'Darn Sarf' means I used to see them a lot on the Sussex, Hampshire, Oxfordshire heaths, but since being up here I've never really bothered to track them down. Thanks.

I have never seen one in the woods but the place I have Heard them is around the bottom of Butt Lane, near Gisborough hall,

going on the likelyhood of seeing one, there are several good clearings now in the forest that have a good carpet of growth on the floor.

Hi,

there is a Bird Club walk to see the Nightjars. Details below

NIGHTJARS IN GUISBOROUGH FOREST
Saturday 6th June 2009
Meet at 8.45pm. by the track next to the first
house in Hutton Village. This trip is weather
dependent and as the traditional site is becoming
overgrown, the Nightjars may not return this
year. There is an alternative site nearby where
Nightjars were present in 2008 but it involves a
longer walk. Please check the Website in the
days leading up to the walk or ring the leader,
Mark Askew, on 01287 638190.
