Newburn Bridge is on the A178 between Seaton Carew and Harltlepool - map link.

If you approach from Hartlepool direction as you cross the top of the bridge over the railway there's a car park immediately on the left. Approaching from Seaton Carew there's another car park 50m south of the bridge.

A visit dead on high tide is a very good for viewing waders which roost on the beach north side of the sewage outfall. The larger the tide the closer they are. A bonus is Mediterranean Gull (sometimes a pair) that often perches on the lamp posts around the north side car park. If you take some bread along it will give even better views  ;)

Thanks very much Ian I have been over it loads of times, just never new its name! We are over that way tomorrow, we will have to give it a go as we pass. Thanks again, Malcolm Corps Bedale

How underated this little area is. Went out first thing last weekend, 10min walk from our house, Rock Pipit, Purple Sand, Sanderling, Redshank, Med Gull, and all the other gulls, Oyster Catchers etc. What is it about this place? A little gem.

i also live 5 minutes away from here, if you live locally too its sometimes worth walking 5 minutes further along towards the marina and having alook at 'black beach' for a small and rather ugly looking piece of beach it can hold 100's of birds i think there probably the birds that move too and from roosting at newburn.
