Shocking merciless Killing for Killings sake.

This photo was submitted by a good Local lad on the Skelton section of Facebook. He shoots when required to but was disgusted at this. His statement was ... What is the point of shooting them if you do not take them home to eat.   This is just killing for killings sake. Another instance of what is going on all around us. How very sad. Also what do they intend to do? leave them to rot and go back onto the land with the manure? or do they hope some scavenger will come along and take them? or doesn't it matter that they may cause desease to domestic animals/ pets as the carcasses rot?

I came across a similar sight some years ago near Pickering. In an arable field at the edge of woodland was a pile of about 30 pheasant carcases which had been partially doused with petrol/paraffin and then incompletely burned.  It was disgusting and made me wonder if the so called 'sportsmen' were ashamed of what they had done and were trying to hide the evidence?.
