Giant Wood Wasp

They are supposed to be common in UK, but this is the first one I have seen. I watched this Giant Wood Wasp (also known at a Giant Horntail) as she laid her eggs in a felled pine tree.
At over 3cm long it looks quite fearsome, but it does not have a sting and is harmless.
