Help Writing Annual Report Requested

The TBC Records sub-committee (RSC) has completed a series of meetings to edit the forthcoming Cleveland Bird Report 2018.  Traditionally the Report is written by four compilers, who are members of the RSC, proof read by all RSC members and edited by the Report Editor.  With 60+ species per section, this is a considerable amount of work for each compiler.  This has led to a discussion on how we might make beneficial changes whilst maintaining the high quality of our much-loved annual report.  One idea involves increasing the number of compilers and therefore reducing the number of species each has to compile.  Compilers would not need to be members of the RSC.

We are therefore writing to keen birders to ask if you would be willing to take on a few species, to assess whether this idea is workable.  A large number of compilers writing, say, ten species each would improve the efficiency of the task.  One advantage discussed is that if each compiler knew in advance which species they were responsible for, they could make extra effort to record those species.  Compiling is undertaken as early as possible in each new year (preferably before spring migration kicks in) as soon as the County Recorder has amassed the majority of submitted records, so that these can be sent out in a spreadsheet.  You don't have to be a brilliant writer – the proof readers will be responsible for grammar, phrasing, continuity, etc.
Please speak to myself or anyone on the RSC for further details and let me know if you will help.
