Rob Young's dragonflies

This isn't a new topic but a reply to Rob Young's dragonfly posting on 17th September 2019.  I can't reply directly because the original posting is more than 120 days old.and I haven't been on the forum for a few years now

Anyway, apologies for the late response, Rob, and for being pernickety- but you know what birdwatchers are like -  the bird that eats dragonflies is the Hobby.  There are videos on YouTube showing them in action

Continuing with the tale about Merlins and their dietary habits I came across a reference in birdforum.net to them eating Dragonflies in Texas. Maybe the Dragonflies are much bigger, as in all things, in Texas.

I've seen merlin (usually juveniles but not always) catching and eating dragonflies at Dorman's Pool and from the Phil Stead hide.  A couple of years ago, one stayed in the vicinity of Phil Stead for several weeks while feasting on migrant hawkers and other delicacies.
