Title: Awaiting TBC mem card and car sticker, but ......
Post by: Eddie H on May 05, 2010, 07:20:03 PM
Guys,
In regards my TBC membership request .....

I've been intouch with Chris Sharp's wife as he's away for a week.
I have posted monies for a family years membership. So its sat awaiting Chris's return.
Querrie is would you guys mind my parking at the Dorman and Rec pools before my "papers" turn up. ??

I'm in the Merchant Navy and can be whisked away at any time, maybe before my stuff turns up. I'm sure any committee members can get intouch with Mrs Sharp to clarify my posting of the funds, my name is on the back of the large brown envelope.

None reply to my post, I'll take it that I can observe there. I drive a Burgandy Picasso, no doubt people have noted this around various sites. When I'm home, I'm always out.

Hope you donot mind my eagerness here.

I am sure there would be no problems whatsoever. No one from security ever seems to check for membership and if in the unlikely event any TBC member asks you it would be easily explained.
Cheers

Lol! Funny you should say that Richard mine was checked on Monday by security - bored I guess!

I don't think it will be a problem though in the circumstances. At worst they'll just ask you to leave.

Excellent, cheers for that.

My work means I'm away,  usually, for 3 months at a time, and home for the same.
Working for the Merchant Navy contracted to the M.O.D. means I can be drafted in at any time. Should be home until June 5th.

If you see someone sat in a Burgandy Picasso looking bemuzed, do say hello.

Hi Eddie,

During my period of Chairmanship of the TBC from 2004-2009, the Club Committee successfully negotiated a new five-year Access Agreement with Impetus Reclamation Limited, who owns both Dormans Pool and the Reclamation Pond.  Under this Agreement, access is permissible for all fully paid-up TBC members (ie those who hold a valid membership card).  There would be no problem in your case whilst you are awaiting your membership card.  Site security is managed by Ray Malcom and his team (of SABIC) and members are occasionally checked and asked to produce membership cards.  I have been approached several times over the past 4 or 5 years and I know of a number of other members who have also been questioned by security.  There is never a problem for those who are legitimately using both sites but under the terms of our Agreement, those who are not paid-up members of the TBC could, and probably will, be asked to leave.  The use of TBC car stickers helps.  Members should respect the right of security to make checks on people from time to time and always be courteous. If you encounter any problems, please contact our Chairman, Ali McLee or myself.

Update,

Myself and Wayne are now both holders of a membership card, car sticker and key to the hide.
Plenty of "bumf" in the welcome pack also. Been to Dorman's/Rec Ponds since joining, speaking to a few lads from the club.

Thanks for the understanding hilst cards where awaited. Ah, off to the Meddie for 6 weeks on 5th June.

Cheers Eddie
