Title: pop up menus disappeared ?
Post by: Eddie H on May 12, 2010, 04:55:43 PM
When trying to access the parts of the website that requires the pop up bars to appear , there's only a blank space ?

Trying to get contact info for Chris Sharp in regards to my membership enrollment. Still not heard/received anything.

Rather than post phone numbers here, could someone please email me his home number that appeared there.

  Cheers, Eddie

They're all still there for me. I wonder if it's a cookie thing on your computer. Try holding down together Ctrl+F5 and see if that clears it.
I've sent you an email.

Hi,

i have just checked the 4 most commonly used browsers (Explorer, Firefox, Chrome and Safari) and the menu is working on all so I suspect the problem is on your machine

Jamie

Same problem for me. Moving the cursor over the menus (Main, Sightings, Forum etc.) just pops up a white box with no text in. The size, shape and position are right but there's no content. I haven't changed any settings on my PC. I'll try to work out what the problem is and will post back here if I figure it out.

I wonder if you're all on the same ISP? Maybe your ISP blocking certain content. I know it happened recently on Bird Forum when two ISP's changed their settings though this does seemed to have occurred when our web host changed.

I don't think it's an ISP problem. I'm with Virgin Media (was ntlworld.com) and I have the problem when using IE8, but I installed Firefox and the menus all work fine.

Hi,

its works fine for me with IE8 running on XP Pro with a Virgin Media connection. I am wondering if it is some sort of cache problem in IE. I have therefore updated the main page and changed the menu at the top slightly so it is different to the menu at the bottom to see if that makes any difference

Jamie

Hi,

I have now found out this is caused by IE8 when you are not running it in Compatability View mode. To turn on this feature click on "Tools" on the top menu and then select "Compatability View Settings". This will bring up a box. At the bottom of this there is an option called "Display all websites in Compatability view". If you check this box you should then be able to see the website without issues.

Regards,
Jamie
