Title: ID please
Post by: Eddie H on May 16, 2011, 05:39:23 PM
Taken today in Saltburn gardens/wood.

Some type of Warbler, but not too sure what type.
Any help much appreciated.

From the thin bill, pale legs, green wings and white wing bars I'd say Goldcrest.

Ian,

It was certainly a Warbler, green in colour. No yellow flash on head.
Had a two tone song finished with a three note drill at the end, very fast song. Still pretty useless at Warbler LBJ ID's at the moment. Size of a Balckcap.

It was very dark in the foliage hence the dark image. Or my useless photographs  :-\

With the points Ian mentions and the fact it does not have an eyestripe I would have also gone for Goldcrest. Perhaps a poorly marked one not showing much of a yellow stripe.

OK,

2-1 to the Gold Crest.

  Thanks Eddie
