Post by: dean smith on November 15, 2008, 11:17:06 AM
i found a dead greenfinch in my garden a few weeks ago which was ringed
i contacted the BTO and they taken the details and i asked them if they could tell me about where the
bird was ringed ect and they said they could but i havent heard from them since

is there any other records i could check up to find out this information without pestering the bto again ?

the ring was marked british musuem london

thanks

It can sometimes take a long time (months rather than weeks) to get the results back from the B.T.O.

Perhaps if you post the ring number on the forum one of the local ringers might recognise it and you may get some details quicker.

That's a pretty sppedy response from them. There seemed to be a backlog for a while.

Looks like it hasn't travelled too far!
