Forum members please see picture of Dead Bird (Grebe) found on ings estate Redcar this morning.
Notice the red band around the neck which wasn't necessarily the cause of death but also could have been.
These elastic bands are used by the Royal Mail and are often discarded carelessly.
I think this dead bird should generate some action and learning for the Royal Mail and among our communities.
I await your suggestions for the next move to achieve what went wrong and to prevent repeats (Wishful thinking perhaps)
Richard Green :(
PS in the meantime the bird is in my freezer but please don't mention this to my wife.
hi richard. i'm a taxidermist. and would be interested in the bird. if you are going to throw it away?? lee...
Hi Lee,
You're are a Taxidermist eh, how interesting, but I shall resist the pun telling you to get S$£%&ed as you must have heard it a thousand times.
The position is that you may detect from my post that the exact cause of death has not been ascertained and my wish is for the happless bird to be used in highlighting the horrific effects of litter on our wildlife and possibly as a conservation tool.
However, should no positive suggestions be forthcoming then you most certainly can take it because I don't want my wife serving it up with chips thinking it's Chicken.
Will let you know soon.
Many Thanks
Richard Green
