Title: Gateshead Red Kites
Post by: tonyg on December 22, 2011, 07:06:00 PM
I'm not posting this in the sightings as I would like to see some discussion on this, after my sighting of 5 at Whickam yesterday I saw another 4  further along the A694  corridor at Lintzford today 22/12/11; does anyone know how many are about in this area.

I live not far from Lintzford and pass regularly. I have had sixteen plus along Lintzford Lane and above Chopwell Wood. There is also a roost over Gibside with double figures of Kites. Since there release they don't seem to have moved very far. I'd have thought they would have moved further up the Derwent Valley by now. Unfortunately when they turn up over the Stocksfield to Hexham area someome doesn't like them and there is some persercution.

Through the  area again today only saw the one but for anyone who hasn't seen them just head to the caravan park off the A694 at Rowlands Gill .

Keith Bowey told me recently 40 enter the roost in the area being talked about.
