At Cowpen Bewley Woodland Park this morning at Magpie was wandering around in the grass by the newt pools/ dragonfly ponds near the hide. I saw it pick up what I think maybe a female Great Crested Newt and wander off through the grass with it before eating it.
First time that I've seen one being eaten by a bird, not that I see many newts anyway ;)
Not great photos but they show clearly a newt in it's bill.
