Title: Fate of public woodlands
Post by: A McLee on July 04, 2012, 05:53:17 PM
You will recall, and hopefully expressed your dissent, last year about the government's proposals to sell to the private sector nationally owned woodland in England and Wales. There was general uproad , a 1/2 million strong petition of disapproval followed by a U turn by DEFRA. The government set a a commission to look at the issue and today their findings were that any such sell off would be against the public's interest and furthermore a programme of target plantings ought to be instigated.
