Title: Redshank or ........
Post by: Eddie H on August 22, 2012, 01:15:48 PM
Guys,

Spotted this rather lean looking Redshank this morning on the Headland beach. Looking at my books, is this actually a SPOTTED Red Shank ?

Common Redshank I'm afraid. Spotted Redshank is larger and has a much longer bill, plus instead of white eyering it has a white stripe through the eye, most obvious  between the eye and bill.

Ah,

Cheers Ian. Thought it would be strange that I actually spotted a rare bird.

That's a bit negative Eddie, keep looking, you'll get your rare bird eventually.
