You can find latest information about How to see Hawfinch at Sizergh on the informative and interesting Lancaster birders website, in the DISCUSSION section, posted Feb 20th.

Call into Tourist Information to find out where to park - basically at small car park which is found by heading towards Waitby although better to get a map from them.  Just follow the walk to the viaduct and Ravens will be there if not at first they will come.  Go on a good day it is a lovely walk.

Do you mean tourist office in Kirkby Stephen? (For Smardale, not Sizergh.) Did you approach the viaduct from north or south? There seem to be walks from Ravenstonedale. Do you have to be members of Cumbria Wildlife Trust to access the reserve?

Thanks Sylvia and Mick had a walk to the viaduct today the weather not the best but the cracking views of the Ravens more than made up for the weather. Must return in the summer for the butterfly's.

We always go in from Kirby Stephen town towards Waitby.  Get more details about Smardale from Kirby Stephen Tourist Information.  If you walk from that end you may see Red Squirrels along the way.  You dont need to be a member to access viaduct if you keep to old railway track from car park.
