Title: French influx
Post by: TobyAW on May 22, 2009, 01:58:14 PM
Well influx may be a little on the strong side. After tracing the Great White Egret I have just received information regarding a male Pochard with a nose saddle, first seen (as far as I'm aware) on the 17th and again on the 20th. This was rung on the 13th of November 2006 at Saint-Philbert-De-Grand-Lieu....... amazingly, I think at least, only a few miles away from where the Great White Egret was rung!!

We welcome any records of birds with colour rings so if you could spend an extra few minutes scanning bird legs on the Reserve, and Cleveland in general, that woudl be greatly appreciated.

Although I disagree with the use of nose saddles, wing-tags and the over-use of colour rings, I can see the advantages of tracing these birds without the need to re-capture them.
