Title: Could This Be A Whimbrel
Post by: dlawton on March 14, 2014, 08:44:34 PM
Took this near Danby Beacon seemed to fly different to a Curlew and its beak seemed straighter than a curlew and the tuft of white at the top of its legs  seemed to me it's a Whimbrel

Dosen't look like a Wimbrel to me, more like a godwit, but difficult to tell.

Lack of head pattern or eye striping rules out Wimbrel or either Godwits. Looks to me like Curlew with slight bill deformity.

I agree with Fred, Curlew.
