Title: to all the moth experts id help required

hi we have several moths in our house tonight.ive got id on most peppered moth,angle shades,large yellow underwing and heart and dart to name a few but one i cant ID it, i think it is a silver y.its approxs 2.5cm long it wings when at rest when viewed from behind form an upside down v,on the end of the wing is a light brown fringe,the wings almost look golden with 2 half circles of shiny gold(which reflect the light) similar to gold leaf on the shoulder area and one gold leaf half circle further down the wing.at the top of the wings on the neck is a 'horned' collar i have taken a few photos but have lost my usb lead..many thanks for any help cheers simon

Hi,

sounds lke one of the Plusiinae moths. Try looking at Burnished Brass, Golden Plusia, Gold Spot, Lempke's Gold Spot and I guess it is one of these. If you manage to upload your photo I can take a look

thanks Jamie photos i have suggest Lempke's Gold Spot never seen one before but very unusual Thank you very much for your imformation been very helpful cheers simon :D :)
