Saw this duck at Margrove ponds today. Thought Mallard in eclpse plumage but it had definite fine white eyering and eye was black. So unsure. Feather pattern on rump and back very bold. Could someone confirm.

Tricky one. Looks like a hybrid. Mainly Mallard but think it has some other influences notably apparent in the head. This fits with some Egyptian Goose hybrid pictures but not the simple Mallard x Egyptian Goose pictures I've seen on the internet. Where it got the eye ring from I'm not sure.
