Hi,
I have always had plenty of blackbirds in and around my garden in Stockton, easy to count 8/10 at any given time.
Within the last two weeks all seemed to have gone, lucky to see 1 now.
Do they move as the weather cools ?
Regards J.
Some Blackbirds do start moving away from the end of September and a drop in garden numbers is normal. The attached graph shows the BTO Garden BirdWatch counts for Blackbirds in NE England and the autumn drop is a constant feature. The rise in the November and December presumably corresponds to the arrival of birds from Scandinavia.
