Title: Unsure of Lark or Bunting
Post by: Derickp on February 11, 2016, 03:17:49 PM
Saw these 2 birds at Cowbar. Thought at first Skylark when they landed but jiz was different and the mark on Cheeks was prominant Brown/Red when light revealed it at a better angle. Cheekmark can be seen on the bird on right. Also both had very white stripe behind the eye, so I am not sure what they are. Can someone with more knowledge throw some light on it.   I could not get a closer shot as they were very nervious even at that long distance.

Forgot to say. Beak looked too long for any of the Buntings I know of.

Looks like Skylark. There are several around here in various stages of plumage, some more "worn" than others. Some with and some without crests. Confuse the hell out of me (which don't take a lot of doing). FRED
