Title: Twite. Seaton Snook
Post by: Ian Watson on March 23, 2019, 09:27:37 PM
Some of the 50+ Twite at Seaton Snook last weekend, quite a few were colour ringed. Similar numbers were there today but they were more elusive.

Great photos.

We've been feeding the Twite here over winter to help them along.

Tees Ringing Group has ringed quite a few. Some have just metal rings on the right leg and some have been colour ringed with a violet colour ring above the metal ring on the left leg and two colour rings on the right leg. Orange over orange is one of the birds ringed on 12/02/2019. They should be around about another month before they disperse back to their breeding grounds. Hopefully they've be reported and we'll find out a little more about where our birds are from.

Previous years we've had colour ringed and metal ringed birds from other areas, primarily the Scottish Highlands and the moors of South Yorkshire.

Thanks for the info Ian. Apart from the orange/orange I seen/photographed 8 other colour variations,
