Title: Greenabella Marsh - dead mute swan
Post by: Uroplatus on November 13, 2020, 05:49:28 PM
Hi all,
I just wanted to let people know that I was out at Greenabella Marsh today undertaking an ecological survey and I discovered the resident mute swan dead in the reed of the large pond nearest the A178. The swan was in perfect condition but deceased. I did examine it to check for any signs it had been shot but it was feather perfect with no sign of blood or wounds. I am not sure whether it could have been old age, illness or poisoning, or something else? However, in line with government guidance it has been reported in case of avian flu. I just wanted to inform you all in case you go and have heard/seen anything, or have any information regarding the dead swan.
Thanks, Lauren
