Feel guilty posting this and I know it will make me unpopular but years ago the RSPB put signs up in their hides saying keep quiet birds have ears. The noise in the PS hide on a recent visit was way above the general chat about a bird in view, its description or habits etc. Shouting the length of the hide, colourful language, discussions about a latest acquisition and how much it cost, could all be done outside. I am not saying the birds were disturbed, more the people who are not regulars and want to sit and look out in peace. Called in several times lately and had the same experience. I know if I had visited a reserve elsewhere in the country it would have left a bad impression. Sorry!
