Why alter the way sightings are reported? the news will get out anyway and incorrect information could lead to confusion and more disturbance for the bird. Its at the site where things need to be addressed. and SUPPRESSION is a bad word

Why educate just the photographers? Some birders also need to be educated

General Discussion / Re: Scaling Dam

Hi
There is a car park at both the East end and the west end of the reservoir. The best place is the west end car park (Scaling Dam Yatch Club) as the hide and nature reserve are there. There is a circular walk (approx 3 miles) around the reservoir.

Rare Birds / Re: Bewick's Swans - Scaling Dam

The 3 Bewick's were still on or around Scaling Dam today. They have now teamed up with the long staying Whooper swan, so you can make a good comparison between the two.

The last shot is a tight crop showing the differences in the bill patterns

I've just checked the other shots of the bird, and there is definately no ring on the right leg and there dosen't appear to be one on the left leg.

Thanks to both of you, It's a shame the light wasn't better to show just how striking the bird was.

Taken Yesterday (22nd) at Erington woods car park New Marske. There were 2 Redpolls coming down to the bird table, 1 normal one and this one. Thanks to M.A.B for letting me know about it.
