Identification Tips and Questions / Image resizing
October 15, 2016, 09:23:19 AM
Can anyone recommend an image resizer for iPad. One I've tried ruins the pics at 400k and another doesn't say how big the resized file is. Also is it best to crop then resize or vice versa.

General Discussion / Photographing Comet Lovejoy
January 17, 2015, 08:47:34 AM
Photographers why not point those big lenses at the comet....you won't get any flack for being too close! Google  "Lovejoy position now" for several sites telling you when and where to look. Roughly due south between 9 and 10 pm. With bins it is a feint fuzzy blob so don't expect too much. Good luck.

General Discussion / Poole Hospital Pond
December 05, 2014, 03:37:48 PM
Yesterday a work team were draining the pond prior to removing silt. The team leader said it was to be a private fishery belonging to Grey Towers Est ie the residents and was politely discouraging access. I believe the access was always permissive and fear that this may be lost during and after the work - which appeared to be much needed. :(

General Discussion / Uploading video to youtube

Yesterday I filmed a Nuthatch in slow mo at Saltburn Valley Gardens. I cannot get it onto youtube. It is a MPEG 4 file which should be accepted. Web advice involves file converters -is this necessary? Help please.

Anyone got experience of these? A friend is looking for bins in the £300 to£400 range and I'm wondering if I should suggest these.

Bee fly it is - thanks for your help.

While looking for dark green fritillaries at South Gare today I saw what I took to be a bee hawk moth. It had clear wings but didn't notice whether it had broad or narrow bands. No photo. Which is more likely and are they unusual. I did see and photographed the fritillaries.

General Discussion / Re: Mobile phone access

Ian- thanks for reply. My initial description of the problem was not correct, When I select Sightings on my phone I get a 123guestbook page (not the Forum) - this is an overview of guestbook and does not mention TBC. It seems to be for setting up a guestbook on a web site. Perhaps Jamie can help.

General Discussion / Mobile phone access
September 25, 2010, 05:54:28 PM
I can access Sightings on my laptop without logging in but when I select Sightings on my phone it takes me to the Forum log-in which does not accept the user name and password which work on the laptop. Any advice out there?
