What happens to a bird like this so far from its normal Winter surroundings? Does it survive? Does it find its way 'home'?

Anything that I can do? Not interested in garden bird seed at the moment and no sign of its mother.

Saw a blackbird with a longish thin white crown and a bit of white around the neck area. Anyone know anything about such a bird?

I saw two (male and female) on the east side of Guisborough Forest a few weeks back. They were on the dead poles left after felling the rest of the woodland so they were easy to spot!

I was there an hour before. A small crop as I was a long way off . . . .

There is a Corus Private Road, Authorized Vehicles Only sign, closely followed by a sign with Court Action May Be Taken Against Trespassers. Anyone know the status of this road?

Currently my longest lens is a sigma 100-300 with 1.4TC on a Nikon D300 (small sensor) (equivalent to 630mm on full sized sensor). Going longer gets very expensive with Nikon lenses. I'm wondering about an Opticron scope with T mount adapter to get quite a bit longer. Any photographers here with telephotography experience, particularly image quality compared with my 'budget' set up?
