Teesmouth Bird Club

Went to Saltholme this pm to catch sight of Waxwing. Had a nice walk round with plenty of Redwing and Fieldfare but no Waxwing. Walked back to the car park to find the Waxwing feeding on berries opposite my car. To cap it all the sun opened up through the clouds which was a bonus. The bird itself appeared to be a 1st winter bird with no V marks on primary tips, it just had a pale yellow straight lines. the black bib had a diffuse edge indicating a female bird.

Female Pintail joined the Mallards today when I was feeding the ducks. Full winter plumage with very close views.

Male Mandarin duck found on Norton pond today at 14.00 hrs. Bird is quite happy with the local mallards. My wife Heather picked it up when a friend made a comment about a new duck on the Norton pond. Believe this is the second day it was seen. Surprise duck to see on the pond.

Photo of Wryneck in North Gare Bushes. Bird was approx. 400m from car park going North along the bushes that mark the golf course boundary. Bird was very mobile flying from bush to bush but you do get opportunities to see the bird.

GWE on the Saline Pool near Greatham Creek yesterday Monday 22nd Sept. Bird was finally chased by the Brine Field patrol. The bird crossed the road and came down on Cowpen Marsh. The little Egret gives you an idea of the size of the GWE.

Last light on Friday evening 15.20 pm on Greenabella (3rd January), sitting watching a greenshank when spotted landed in front of me. It just carried on feeding without a care.

Great White Egret in flight from the long drag to Cowpen Marshes. The bird is often distant but the fly past gave me this opportunity. Time of sighting 15.15 pm.

Although the light was poor, Smew photographs on the Saline Lagoon on 23rd of January. Male was presenting to female.
