General Discussion / Iphone bird list App
August 20, 2025, 07:15:21 PM
I have recently changed my mobile phone and a consequence of this is that the APP that I was using to record annual, area and life lists will now not work as it is now not available in the App Store. I have trolled through all the possible replacements available that I can find, but none give the option of recording multiple lists.
Does anyone use use such an App? I would be grateful if anyone could advise of any that is available. The old App proved invaluable as a refence tool when away from home.
Many thanks, Ian

General Discussion / Malta Bird Massacre
April 23, 2014, 06:24:43 PM
As you are probably aware, Chris Packham has been out in Malta, raising awareness of the annual migration massacre.
Please join me and support this, in what may be a once in a lifetime opportunity, by making a donation to the fund set up to highlight this terrible event.
Disappointingly, to date, most of the support has come from the USA.
Maybe the club itself could offer some support.

Just returned from a "family" holiday in Cyprus, where, somehow or another, my bins had appeared in my luggage when we arrived !
This was in the Coral Bay / Peyia area, where on previous visits, it had been difficult to find any birds at all worth mentioning.
However, we were visiting a little earlier than normal and were rewarded with the following highlights.
Bee-eater,Hooded Crow, Crested Lark,Chuka,Black Francolin,Turtle Dove, Purple Heron, Eleonora's Falcon and a Masked Shrike that kept me entertained for hours, hunting outside our apartment.
Well worth hiring a buggy and exploring the dirt tracks that surround this hilly area.

May I offer my sincere thanks to all those who take the time and trouble to advise where and when birds have been sighted.
These reports and photo's,which I check by the hour, helps to brighten up my day, stuck in an office at work, hoping that the birds will still be around at the weekend !
I only wish I out there watching with you.
