Quite a few years ago I recall that Forestry UK (or their predecessor) made a promise to restore Guisborough Woods to mixed woodland after the felling of the current crop. In fact I remember going to a local RSPB lecture by one of their representatives who promised that this would be the outcome.

So what are they beginning to plant now in the cleared areas? Yes, solid non-native conifers.

Is anyone who is more able than me (I broke my neck three years ago) able to remonstrate with them about this?

Could you post more details of who ringed this as I saw SPP & SPY over in the Lakes just over a month ago and despite posting on the BTO channels I haven't received any confirmation that my sightings have got to the the right person.

We are planning a long holiday, say a couple of months, in Spain and France. In outline the plan is to sail to Santander/Bilbao and drive across to the Ebro Delta then wind our way back up to Calais. We will be using a caravan so we can stop where convenient.

Has anyone got any recommendations for places to stay/not to miss on our travels? In France we are probably likely to stay west of the Rhone after, perhaps, visiting the Camargue.
