stagecoach and hartlepool council have come too a temporary agreement to re install a sunday service on the number 1 bus route running from hartlepool too middlesbrough and back again meaning non drivers will now have a chance too get too and from rspb saltholme on sundays

it is a trial on a 'use it or lose it' basis  and starts on the 11th of november and hopefully will continue for people like myself without a car as the bus stop is handily right outside the main gates of the reserve.

Rare Birds / Re: Eagle Owl - Hartlepool Marina
April 30, 2012, 10:50:26 AM
when i lived on the marina seeing the plastic owls always used to chuckle me apparently the idea is to stop pesky seagulls landing and making a mess on your boat if you cant live with seagulls you should neither have a boat or live on a marina !

General Discussion / Re: Where do I buy a new lens?
March 05, 2011, 05:09:06 PM
id stay away from simply electronics it took me over a month too get my lens even though they taken the money the same day as ordering. it took a phone call and email nearly everyday to be told they were having delays from nikon and it would be soon

for they 30 quid i saved on the price id rather of paid the extra and got it from rgb who ive had no problems at all with over the last few years

i have copies of the cleveland bird report 2007,08 and 09 that are free to anyone that wants them rather than putting them in the recycling may be useful to someone who wasnt a club member in those years to fill gaps in a collection ect.

unfortunately i have had to have a rather brutal clear out due to moving around quite a bit and dont have any place too store them

im currently in the marina area of hartlepool where they can be picked up from but it may take a few days to get back to anyone due too work commitments

Could you post more details of who ringed this as I saw SPP & SPY over in the Lakes just over a month ago and despite posting on the BTO channels I haven't received any confirmation that my sightings have got to the the right person.

Dave Farrant

hi dave

im not sure who ringed the bird but there is a website that gives all the contact details of who to report colour ringed birds too.

http://www.cr-birding.be/

you click on species and colour of ring too obtain the correct person to contact via email however im not sure how up to date the website is as when i got a reply it was from another person who had my email forwarded too him with a note saying that the person listed on the website emigrated too australia some years ago !

if you would still like the email address of the person who provided me the information then let me know and il pm it too you

regards

dean

for those interested i thought id share the information i just got back from reporting the colour ringed mute swan that was in jacksons landing late november below is the email

SKU was ringed as a female cygnet at Studley Royal Park on the 31st of August 2003. Yours is the first re-sighting of the bird since that time so is of particular interest.
