As Jasper would say "There's only one way to get rid of a mole mink blow it's ruddy head off
Why worry it may never happen?
If it has already happened why worry?
Because it's too late to do anything about it,
So Why Worry?

Just a reminder to all observers of mink that it is very important you submit any sightings. Please read the pdf and fill in the form (both linked below as well as on the Home page)

Yes they are vermin but to get permission to get rid of them in this area would create more headaches than it's worth because mammy and little jonny who visit here think they are so cute and have no concept of the damage they cause, this would take a proper education centre being set up in the visitor centre.

the best way of getting rid of the mink is to tunnel trap the waterway's in  and around the area's  they have been reported. tunnel trap's set properly only catch the target species, are unobtrusive and very effective. i have said before i'v had experiance trapping mink ect . and would be happy to run a trap line over the port 8)  free of charge.  plus i would show anybody wanting to know how it's done, how to go about it properly.  mink are classed as vermin and it is legal to trap them all year round 8) i would clean that place up in no time ;D  but once the mink are brought down in numbers it is still important to keep a couple of traps on station to pick up any  new arrivals, as other mink soon move in on a good minkless territory ;)
like i said before summat needs doing sooner rather than later or you can kiss the water voles good bye :(  then the ground nesting birds will start to suffer.. :'(

Lots of these around on the Isle of Mull where they have been know to decemate tern colonies.  We spotted this one on one of the beaches to the south of the island.  Others on the beach having spotted it in the water were claiming it was an otter which some do get confused with.  We saw at least two on our travels, need eradicating before they do severe damage.
