Large black Grouse like bird at Cowpen Bewley Woodland Park

The warden has obtained a couple of photos from a member of the public. Different ones from those I saw last week. They were very dark and soft but looked more like a Black Grouse.

These photos look more like a Red Grouse to me from the white eye ring and apparent feathered feet. I wonder if the earler described white rear end was snow thrown up as it took off.

Tinkering with the levels shows what colours maybe present.

looks like Red Grouse to me also. I remember seeing one on Dormans Pool years ago so it is not unprecidented to have one in the Estuary
