Penguin Spotted near Steetley, Hartlepool

From the Hartlepool Mail tonight, a lady claims to have taken a picture of a Penguin!

I was contacted by The Hartlepool mail, and explained that it must be a Guillemot. having seen the picture, it is indeed a Guillemot, in either winter plumage, or Juvenile.
imagine the number of Twitcher's a Penguin would attract!!

The word 'penguin' did originally refer to the Great Auk, which was in the same family as the Guillemot - so she wasn't totally wide of the mark!
