I am in the process of starting to pull together some of the various elements which comprise the stages of this project. One of the earliest of these is a conceptual impression of what it will look like externally, to see if it is acceptable to the site owner ( P D Ports ); Hartlepool B C Planning Department ( it is a conservation area); local residents; the club itself. To this end, I am seeking people with artistic skills to create a series of impressions to display the the various options which the club can both afford and be fit for purpose as a sea observatory. So I am looking for volunteers with artistic skills to produces sketches in the first instance. Call me on 01642 787305.
On the matter of the internal functionality for birders, I am trawling for ideas at the moment from members. Dave Nelson and myself have already visited a potential fabricator and have an idea of the basics, but we certainly do not wish this to curtail or restrain innovative thinking at this early stage. There will be plenty of external constraints from the parties above and of course available funding. So if there are interested persons out there, please flag up you wish to contribute ideas and I shall pull together a meeting to gather in your views and see if a basic design can be derived. ( One must always bear in mind that if one is not careful the old addage of a camel is a horse decided by a committee!).
As for the actions of planning permission, funding, fabrication and installation these matters can be considered later.
