Jamie's announcement said problems with the electronic record submission should be posted in the Discussion section, so here goes.

When entering the location and species in to the Data Entry Form, as soon as I click on a suggested name, the program freezes.  The only way of entering the data is to type out everything and avoid the shortcut of using the suggestions.  I have a feeling this could become wearing after a while!

The computing details are :
Program  MS Excel 2004 for Mac
Machine   iMac running OSX Snow Leopard

Any suggestions?

I think the Mac xl is the problem....

The Macros are written in visual basic I believe, which 'isn't supported' (for which I read doesn't work) on xl for Mac.  Save the spreadsheet without enabling the Macros.  Then at least it will recognise strings that have already been entered - saving a bit of time at least.

Hope this helps,

Stew

Thanks for the suggestion, Stew.  Am I right in thinking that opening without the macros means that the data entry form is not available and you put the data directly in to the spreadsheet?  I've come to the conclusion that it would be quicker that way.

According to Wikipedia, the situation with Visual Basic macros is rather odd.  In my ancient 2004 version of MS Office for Mac, VB macros are supported, but they aren't in the 2008 version (is this the one you've got?).  Support has been restored in the 2011 version.  This means that the data entry form should work for me.  Pity it doesn't!

Yea, I've downloaded it without enabling macros and entering it by hand, being careful to use the correct place names (which you can still see in the tabs) to make it easy for Tom to cut and paste later.

My version is 2008.... wonder why they stopped supporting it??
