Hi,

we are opening up a discussion and gallery forum to see if it is of use and regularly used. This is a complex bit of software so we aim to keep the setup as simple as possible. If you get an error when doing anything please try again as these may be caused by the hosting company. Also if you have any ideas about what we should/shouldn't include please add them here.

Also please note that as we get to understand how the forums are been used we may open up new topics or remove others until we get the format correct.

Regards,
Jamie

Would anybody be interested in setting up a gallery for bird photos taken on holiday with a few notes on where they were taken? in uk or abroad as these may be of interest to others and possibly influence future holiday plans.

p.s. birds outside Cleveland seems to be stretching it a bit to a long haul holiday

Just new to the site having just got back into bird watching now that I have a little free time
Is there anywhere on the site, or anywhere, that clarifies what is common, occasional or rare in the area.
Avocets at Seal Sands, Fulmars at Saltburn - are things like these common or just occasional. It would be nice to know

Hi Richard,
It might be worth tracking down a few of the old bird club reports, think John Fletcher might be the man to speak to though I'm sure others can point you in the right direction, and combining them with a copy of the Birds of Cleveland and the Breeding Birds of Cleveland (though I think the latter may be sold out). This would give you all the info you need on what birds are where and when.

As an additional idea, and it's probably just a personal thought, any chance that when something interesting and/or photogenic turns up, instead of everyone starting a new thread with their posts that they can all post under the initial thread? That way it keeps the forum tidy and can allow easy comparisons of features for identification of both species and individuals (ie gulls or raptors) without having to jump around and locate different threads.
