Hi everyone,
As a lot of people know, following a long session of brushing water out of Saltholme Hide on Saturday morning I had a heart attack. I had finished the brushing and sat with a coffee and started the bird list when I got a chest pain, I thought it was heartburn from drinking the coffee too quickly and carried on. The pain got much worse and my arms and hands started to tingle. Several of our regulars were in the hide by this time and I asked if someone could contact the centre to get me an ambulance. One of these people and I am sorry but due to my pain and confusion I don't know which one,( please make yourself known to me so that I can thank you properly), rang 111 and asked for an ambulance to be sent, after some confusion about our location he passed me his phone so that I could give my details and then went to guide the ambulance down to the hide.
It arrived and I was rushed to James Cook Hospital and taken into cardiac operating theatre where they removed a clot and fitted a stent into the artery at the front of my heart, I am now much better and improving all the time.
I would just like to thank all the people who helped when I was in trouble and feel very humble that so many people rang Chris Sharp, RSPB Saltholme and my home to enquire about me following this incident. Also thanks to all for the Get Well cards.
Hope to see you all soon
Regards
Dave.
