Took this photo of What I thought might have been spotted redshank in August, could someone confirm if so. This photo was quite distant, hence the quality.
Also took these birds in Firs on the Castleton to commondale road. The bird on extreme right had full White Flanks and dark back. If one zooms in the white can be seen both sides of the darker back area. Had not chance to get another shot as they flew off. This photo was taken at very long distance and on full digital zoom, and so again poor quality. I thought at one point Starlings but they appeared to be feeding on the cones. Is that possible with starlings?

First photo are Spotted Redshank.

Pass on second photo though Jackdaw was my first thought.

Excluding the corvids, there is a grey blob at the top of the center pine tree which could be an adult goshawk which had provoked the attention of the the corvids. However my interpretations of the ink blot test performed for a company psychologist many years ago, when applying for a job, caused much scribbling in her note book. I did not get the position!

Thanks to Ian for confirming my thoughts on Spotted Redshanks. Jackdaws doubtfull, see below.
Also to MR. McLee, Although I never considered the center bird as Goshawk because the other birds were definitely about Starling size, and for that reason I never considered Jackdaws either because I would have certainly recognised their Jiz being one we see frequently. Forgive me for not saying about the size earlier. Another point worth mentioning, when they flew a Missle Thrush took off at the same time and in the same direction and his size exceeded theirs. Never the less thanks for the response from both of you.

Additional thanks to Mr. McLee for the laugh.
