Any ideas on the best places to see Goshawk in East Cleveland or nearby? I've lived in Marske ten years and never managed it on my Cleveland list. I know it's a bit late for displays (though I did catch a late Sparrowhawk up to its antics over Yearby wood last week).

Thanks Dean.  You're a lucky guy to be new to birding and see a Goshawk.  I think it took me ten years to see my first and that was abroad!  As you might have seen on the Sightings page of the website, I had long and excellent views of a juvenile in Fryup Dale on the Moors this summer.  I love watching raptors and this year has been just brilliant: Honey Buzzard, Common Buzzard, Rough-legged Buzzard, Hobby, Peregrine, Merlin, Kestrel, Goshawk, Sparrowhawk all got on my list this year.  I think the only other ones I could have seen in our area, but missed this year, would be Hen Harrier, Osprey and Marsh Harrier.
Cheers,
