For all we love birds they do act oddly at times, don't you think ? Yesterday at a local spot, I observed a great crested grebe sitting on it's nest...no more than 12 inches away from a coot, also sitting on it's nest !!! I'd been to this location a week earlier and had seen just the coot, now there is a grebe nesting, on open water, within a foot of it !! side by side like best buddies ! I thought coots were ferociously territorial and grebes were shy ????   :)

i seen a carrion crow last year flying with a small pebble in it's beak .it was fying up high dropping the pebble then stooping down catching the pebble in mid air .it done this  several  times for a few minutes before flying away with the pebble in it's beak.  strangest bird i have seen .   ;D

I was watching a Swift annoying Herring Gulls over my house a couple of days ago. The Swift was flying towards the gulls (4 of them), having a swipe at them then flying away from them. It would fly slowly (by it's standards), until the gulls almost caught up, then it would drop and speed off, then repeat this process lots of times, making the gulls madder and madder!!
