I don't know if anyone else knows that Saltholme is changing the way it charges non-members of the RSPB for admission to Saltholme from the 1st January 2020. Instead of charging per car for non-members which it has been since Saltholme opened. From the 1st January 2020 RSPB Saltholme will be charging per-person instead of per-car for non-members. At present the admission charge per-car for non-members is £5.00. From the 1st January 2020 the admission charge for adults per-person will be £3.00. So it's cheaper for just one person, but for 2 adults it will be £6.00 if they are non-members. There are reductions for example for children and students, not sure about senior citizens. I do agree with the RSPB on this, as compared with other RSPB reserves with similar facilities the admission charge for non-members is more. Non-members can in lots of ways not pay the car park charge, as it just needs one person who is a member and not even the driver of the car and then there's no car park charge. I think it was a long time coming, as Saltholme must have lost of money in just having car parking charges for the reasons I've given. The full details about this are on the RSPB website in the reserve section and full details in the visiting section under Saltholme.
