Dear Members,

The first club online meeting will be on Monday 1st February at 7:30pm. We are using Zoom, so if you would like to join in please send me an email at juquacker@gmail.com. Once I have received your request, I will send you an invite which has a link. Click on the link and depending upon whether you have used Zoom before you may need to download a bit of software. I will get a notification and let you into the meeting.

I would suggest for the first meeting you gave yourself a bit of extra time to join. I will be available to help people join and I will also be online from 7 pm to make sure we are ready for a start at 7:30 pm.

Please don't worry that you have to have a webcam switched on when you haven't been to the hairdressers or barbers for 6 months since it is not required. Your computer audio should be fine. A microphone is also not required since there will be a chat facility for questions. Those members with a webcam, microphone etc can use them. Although during the talk I will ask you to be on mute.

So please grab yourself a cuppa or another beverage and join in! It has been a long time since we have been together so enjoy  :)

There is will probably be a few gremlins for the first meeting, so bear with us if something unforeseen happens.

The next zoom club meeting has been organised for Monday 1st March 2021 at 7:30 pm and our speaker is Dr Mark Eaton. Mark will be telling us about 'The RSPB Centre for Conservation and Science: saving nature with science'

Mark is Principal Conservation Scientist for the RSPB and he is also the Chair of the Rare Breeding Birds Panel, so we are lucky to be able to hear all about Mark's work. Mark leads a team of staff responsible for work synthesising results to assess the health of both avifauna and the wider environment, such as the annual State of the UK's Birds reports. Mark's work extends overseas, supporting the development of common bird monitoring schemes in Eastern Europe and Africa, and assessing biodiversity knowledge in the UK's Overseas Territories.

So if you would like to join in please send me an email at juquacker@gmail.com. Once I have received your request, I will send you an invite which has a link. Click on the link and depending upon whether you have used Zoom before you may need to download a bit of software. I will get a notification and let you into the meeting.

I will be available to help people join and I will also be online from 7 pm to make sure we are ready for a start at 7:30 pm.

Remember computer audio should be fine, so don't worry about webcams - just enjoy.

The next zoom club meeting has been organised for Monday 12th April 2021 at 7:30 pm and our speaker is Tom Mabbett, Operations Manager and Tour Leader for Naturetrek. The title of the talk is "The Best of British Wildlife - From Ardnamurchan to the Somerset Levels".

Since we will most probably not be travelling overseas this summer. This talk will help us to remember the some of the wildlife of the British Isles and perhaps give us a few pointers for some staycation trips.Tom joined Naturetrek in 2013 and works full-time as Operations Manager, but still manages to find time to lead some tours and do recces for new adventures. With his wings clipped Tom has been watching wildlife in his local patch in the Cotswolds, so we are in for an interesting talk.

So if you would like to join in please send me an email at juquacker@gmail.com. Once I have received your request, I will send you an invite which has a link. Click on the link and depending upon whether you have used Zoom before you may need to download a bit of software. I will get a notification and let you into the meeting.
